Case Study

Friendship House

This non-profit organization had a long history (founded in 1871) of providing care, treatment and education for children with emotional difficulties, and their families throughout Pennsylvania.  The current identity (logo) and message (tag line) evolved over many years had become dated and meaningless.  The creative process here started with the first meeting to explore possible solutions where I offered the new message "Helping Children Today for a Brighter Tomorrow".  The new message initiated the direction for the new identity.  It had to be "bright", friendly and communicate growth and success.

The next element of this project required design and production of a new capital campaign booklet describing the current and future needs of the organization and hopefully increase funding.  However, one critical aspect was to not give the impression that too much money was being used for printing and still be effective.  The solution: "ink blending" of the 2 pantone colors used in the logo to create sepia photo images and the illusion of multiple colors in an economical 2-color printing process.
